Over smartness doesn't always help.This time i decided to book my ticket without consulting my friends hoping that i would get a beautiful twenty somthing (atleast 1)as my co passenger during my boring 44 hour journey to Jaipur.That was my first mistake.So finally when i boarded the train i had to believe my eyes.A beautiful 20 something damsel sitting next to my seat.I thanked all god's & recalled enough one liners to vomit at my friends who obviously wished against it.That was my second mistake.The train was about to leave & i was appalled.The beautiful young thing got out of the train to bid alvida to her MOM.My friends always seem to have that knack of predicting things right as(s) far as my life is concerned.The 6 of them along with me seemed to find pleasure in exploring the silent world around them.
With my gamble having backfired i was helpless sitting in the middle of some dumb homo sapiens.They comprised of one of the most numb newly wed couples who i guess wanted a bit of privacy,couple of nurses who kept on boasting about their respective families(one among them the MOM)a poker-faced army guy & a pucca musalman who kept on scratching on a piece of paper(later he told me he was meditating & scratching let him concentrate).
That's when Mr Chetan Bhagat offered some help.His latest "best seller" the 3 mistakes of my life was my pick to kill time.
Once again 3 friends Omi,Ish & me aka Govind.As you would guess it's about their problems & how they deal with it.This is a story about business,cricket & relegion,3 among the 4 things that sell in India.
The book can be quite inspiring for aspiring businessmen who would wanna start from scratch & build on.It also reveals the ugly side of relegion in our country & would just about convince you the importance of sport.
The Chetan Bhagat brand of humor is intact & his flawless narration seemed to soothe my senses.
The Chetan Bhagat brand of romance is intact as well which i would suggest he should experiment with.Somewhere you feel monotonous while reading the hero's love affair.Cricket facts from the famous Kolkata test have been twisted(minor but glaring).A middle class Gujarathi girl addicted to mobile phone in 2001 was a bit hard to digest though.
Personally i felt the author has failed to move on from his 5 point someone days.I bet you wouldn't read this one in a stretch unless you find yourself helpless in the middle of a boring train journey.For all those lucky souls who has never experienced boredom i would suggest LOVESTORY 2050.That was my third mistake in the previous week.

Lucky me, I always end up sitting next to a 20-something hot dude, usually from DU. It happens to me.
I kinda sweared off 3 mistakes coz a friend said it breaks the chetan bhagat romance...time to giv it a try i guess
chetan bhagat can't write shit to save his life. he is a mentally stuck in school dude, just sexed up everything that happened arnd it..a voila, ppl gobbled it up.

You know what, this is something that happens to me and my friends almost every month as we travel in train to Cochin from Bangalore, and back.
The first thing we do after reaching the station is to go through the passenger list of our coach. Ironically Chetan mentions about this behaviour of guys in his second book - 'One night at a call center'. :P

and i hvnt committed the mistake of seeing love story 2050 although i love harman baweja...
and i HATE those long journeys where u hv to sit next to irritating people who either pick their nose or scratch their crotch :|

mr. bhagat has seem to started off from where he left writing his previous opus--5.some one.. the book lacked quality of a genuine author[who is in love with writing] and is full of usual slangs of college going guys and mundane plots. ya i agree with you alex--one could not have read it ina stretch--unless he is helpless in the midst of something more boring.

talking about chetan bhagat,despite severe critisicm from many professional authors he has managed to carve out a large chump of people .
his mention in his acknowledgement

is inspiring.
But i guess he suffers a blow when people start comparing 3moml with 5 point someone.

Yup I agree reading that book was simply the 4th mistake one could make. Good flow of narration though I liked it Alex.
I personally do not like Chetan Bhagat because he write to sell and not sell what he writes. His writing lacks persona. But thats beside the point.
