The admission festival has started.It is another season in our country these days which provides its share of entertainment package.After burdening the students for two or even three years the various outstanding(according to them) professional colleges have started contributing to the cultural extravaganza.It seems there is no engineering student in this country who will pass out jobless since all these self financing institutions possess an enviable 100% placement record(India glorious).Poverty will soon be abolished thanks to their contribution to the society.What not,a just pass student can do MBBS in the foreign countries and live the rest of their lives as Doctors(whether the patients live the rest of their lives is a different topic).One cannot find fault with the progressive rise in professional colleges(India's population is rising even faster).But may be because of the generation gap(20 years ago the population was much lesser) the current crop of colleges have failed to fill their seats.Since a vacant seat creates one more poverty struck family our colleges are working overtime to prevent that.A funny(to me) advertisement which i came across in the newspaper yesterday stated a certain famous?#$* JAYARAM & OXFORD ENGG: COLLEGE TRICHY (14 & 12 years old colleges) affliated to Anna university and what not, approved by AICTE .Will provide each student who secures an admission in this HOLY institute with a LAPTOP.Wow!!No donation,just pass students under NRI quota(ie...need not be an NRI),MOU with leading companies(names not mentioned) & sharing of course materials with IIT Mumbai(students at IIT Mumbai are struggling with that).Fee is comparitively cheap (35000)to others who sell similar products.Well,what more do you need???Nothing more is left i guess.Having gone through all thse dramas a couple of years back i envy the luxury of the present students.Who would want to crack an IIT JEE or an AIEEE??Do they give laptops???They don't assure 100% placements either!
